Carmel Caterpillars Pre-School
Sun Cream Policy
Policy Statement
All children are free to use our outside play area at all times, during their time at Pre-School, whatever the weather. Staff will unlock the door, and check the gates are securely locked in place. The area will be checked thoroughly and risk assessed by a member of staff. This will be recorded on the daily risk assessment records.
In the summer months we will provide a shady area of protection. However the children will be exposed to the sun, and Sun cream is essential to protect a child's delicate skin. As a Pre-School we keep a factor 50 Sun cream, for sensitive skin, to apply on the child's exposed skin. Parent's written permission is requested, in order for us to do this. We do ask all parents to apply appropriate Sun Cream to their child's skin, before bringing them in to Pre-School.
Procedure
- All children are to arrive at Pre-School with Sun Cream already applied by the parents/carer.
- For children staying all day, Sun Cream will be re-applied, by a member of staff, after lunch, or as needed, to protect them during the afternoon session.
- All parents are asked to fill in the permission form which is included in the starter pack, for us to re-apply Sun Cream.
- Parents can supply their own Sun Cream, provided it is in a clearly named bottle.
- Parents are asked to provide a suitable sun hat, marked clearly with their child's name.
